An incredible antique cooler or ice-box door by York Ice Machinery Co., dating from the early 1900s and salvaged from the historic “Windsor” home—also known as the Castle Above the Clouds—perched atop Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. Built in the 1930s by George and Elizabeth Scholze, the residence reflects the couple’s refined taste and attention to detail. George Scholze, second-generation owner of the prominent Scholze Tannery in Chattanooga, helped earn the city its nickname, “Saddle Capital of the World.”
This door is in very good antique condition with the expected wear, as pictured. The outer measurement of the door is 35-5/8″ wide, 74-1/4″ tall, and 1-1/2″ thick; the inset measurement is 32″ wide, 71-1/4″ tall, and is 4-7/8″ thick.
