Description

This is a magnificent antique cast brass early American chandelier, dating from the 19th Century. This Georgian four-light chandelier comes down in a sleek brass pole to a baluster body, beginning with a beautifully cast cluster of acanthus leaves, below which is an intricate design of flowers and vines. The arms curve outward, ornamented at the top with magnificent acanthus leaves, and supporting scalloped bobeches below. Below the arms, the chandelier body features a splendid network of lattice, leaves, and volutes. It finishes in a brass orb and a baluster finial encircled by a bead pattern. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. There is a minor casting flaw in the ornamentation on one arm (pictured). The chandelier body measures 19 ¾” wide and 19 ½” tall, and the fixture is 33” long overall.
