Description
This is a wonderful pair of antique Federal double-arm figural mirrored sconces, dating from the 1920’s. Made of gilded bronze, each sconce is crowned with a magnificent gilded eagle with outspread wings, below which is a beautifully aged mirror. At the base of the mirror is an anthemion flanked by volutes, below which a simple arm receiver bowl supports two smooth, S-curved arms. Each arm holds a glass wax-pan ornamented with a simple oval pattern and a sleek gilded candle-cup. The bottom of the sconce finishes in foliate detail. These wall lamps are in very good antique condition, with a minor chip to one of the wax-pans (pictured) which is not visible unless turned to the front of the sconce. They have been professionally rewired, and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The sconces are 12” tall, 8 ¾” wide and project 5” from the wall.
