Description

This is a fantastic entry door hardware set by Russell & Erwin, c. 1889, in cast iron. It is a complete set with the doorknobs, decorative mortise lock, backplate, rosette, keyhole cover, and thumb turn. The door knobs feature a fourfold design with a four-pointed star in the center, surrounded by a zigzag border. An intricate eight-pointed design encircles the center, extending to the edge of the knob. The door plate is ornamented with a beautifully cast design of stylized leaves and abstract detail. The escutcheons and turn are both ornamented with a matching pattern. The mortise lock also features a coordinating design, and is signed R. & E. with the date. This exterior door hardware set is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina. The doorknobs are 2 ¼” in diameter and 2” deep; the plate is 2” wide and 7 ¼” long. A cast bronze plate in the same pattern is also available, listed under item # NDP18.
