Description
This is a gorgeous antique Georgian five-light chandelier, silver plate over brass and pewter, dating from the 1930’s. It has a beautifully aged finish, with the brass slightly showing through the silver for a lovely effect. It begins with a fabulous canopy, ornamented with a beaded top edge followed by foliate detail, coming down in a chain to the chandelier body. The body begins with a volute loop finial atop an intricate volute-patterned section, to which are attached five elegant arms. Each arm begins with a volute and curves out, coming down the length of the chandelier body before curving back up to accept a beautifully cast bobeche with a fluted base and a stylized foliate pattern. The chandelier body continues in an urn shape, adorned with splendid floral, volute, and ribbon detail, and ends in a tassel finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition. It has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 19 ¾” wide and 16 ¾” tall, and the fixture is 38 ½” long overall.
