Description
This is a magnificent pair of ca. 1900 bronze double-arm sconces in the Georgian style. They have elegantly gadrooned back plates topped with superbly cast urns, foliate detailed volutes and bellflower swags. Two smooth and unassuming S-curved arms sprout above a crystal star that holds an unusual wheel cut crystal pendeloque. The sconce arms curve up to accept scalloped glass wax-pans and ribbed candle-cups. A second star, placed above the back plate’s center floret, holds beaded chain that descends to the bobeches and has rows of sparkling “icicle” prisms. The wall lamps are in excellent condition. They have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia sake; however, we would gladly replace them with new ones if so desired. The overall length is 19”, the width is 11”, and they protrude 5 ½” from the wall.
