Description
This is a splendid antique six-light silver plated pewter chandelier, dating from the early 1900’s, with its original slag glass shade. The chandelier begins with a beautifully ornamented canopy with foliate detail and a bead-and-reel pattern, coming down in a chain to a silver plated loop finial atop a cluster of acanthus with an intricate, silver plated tassel below. The underside of the chandelier features honey-colored slag glass with a foliate medallion in the center, supported by foliate bands that run to the perimeter of the chandelier. The glass is surrounded by a rich border of grapevines and grape clusters. The bobeches feature beautifully cast foliate detail, and each is finished in a dangling silver plated tassel. This light fixture is in excellent condition with its original silver plate. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 19 ½” wide and 16 ½” tall, and the fixture is 36 ½” long overall.
