Description
This is a splendid antique five-light figural chandelier, dating from the 1920’s, in its original polychrome finish with green and red accents. The chandelier begins with a polychrome canopy with acanthus detail, and it descends in a chain to a large figural finial portraying a pair of stylized dolphins. The chandelier body features incredible detail on the underside, beginning in the center with a large five-petal flower, ornamented with a fleur-de-lis between each petal. Five arms, bordered in rope and acanthus detail, radiate outward to a richly ornamented border. Flanking each arm is a pair of dolphins that blend into leaves, with an oval medallion between. The five crenellated bobeches, ornamented with a torsade pattern, rest atop the chandelier body at the end of each arm. This light fixture is in excellent condition. It has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 19” wide and 14” tall, and the fixture is 36” long overall.
