This is an extraordinary pair of antique figural double-arm sconces, dating from the 1920’s. These cast bronze sconces retain their original, beautifully worn darkened nickel finish with blue accents. The sconces feature a round back plate, adorned with an abstract design reminiscent of a fountain, flanked by a pair of intricately cast sea serpents surrounded by acanthus detail. The fountain rests atop a gadrooned section, which is supported by a pair of twisted columns with foliate accents. A large acanthus leaf hangs between the two columns. The sconce arms curve upward from either side of the bottom of the sconce, which is adorned with a floret and a pair of palmettes. Each arm features a scalloped bronze bobeche with a dangling anthemion finial with blue accents. The center of each sconce is finished in a matching finial. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The sconces measure 11” tall, 8 ¾” wide, and project 3 ¼” from the wall.
