Description
This is a fabulous antique cast iron fireplace cover with its matching surround, dating from the late 19th Century. The summer cover features a pair of crossed torches surrounded by palm branches and a laurel wreath. Above, a smaller laurel wreath surrounds a fleur-de-lis. The corners of the cover are ornamented with graceful leaf designs. The surround is ornamented with coordinating foliate designs and is crowned with a stylized fleur-de-lis. This summer cover set is in very good antique condition with some rust. It measures 30 3/8” tall and 24 7/8” wide. The cover (without the surround) measures 20 3/8” wide and 24 ½” tall.
