This is a superb antique Art Nouveau cast iron fireplace cover and surround, circa 1900. The center of the summer cover features addorsed anthemia on an oval background of lattice. The oval is surrounded with an incredibly detailed design of acanthus leaves, vines, and volutes. The top of the surround is adorned with Art Nouveau floral volutes, followed by an anthemion pattern. The sides feature fluted pilasters, accented with volutes at the top and anthemia at the base. Across the bottom is a lattice surrounded by foliate detail. This set is in excellent condition. The piece measures 30 ¼” tall and 24 ½” wide (25 ¼” at the widest point), and is 6” deep.
