Description
This pair of late 1800s sconces features a gorgeous pair of royal blue, mercury glass or silvered glass shades. Silvered “mercury” glass is considered one of the first true “art glass” types, and that is obvious in these beautiful shades. These brass sconces display a dome style canopy decorated with a shield type adornment, which is flanked in foliated and scrolled embellishments, and is repeated about the canopy. A long, thin arm branches out from the canopy to support the shade holders, which feature original functioning turn switches. These are very lovely sconces with a unique shape. They have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The measurements are 7” long measured from the top of the canopy to the angle at which the bottom of the shade would create below, 5” wide, and protrude 12 ¼” from the wall.
