Description

This is a wonderful antique oak newel post, dating from the late 19th Century. It features a graceful, stylized acorn finial, below which is a ribbed half-moon, followed by a panel featuring a fabulous carved sunflower blossom with its leaves. The lower section of the newel features chamfered edges and fluted panels. There is a very small chip missing at the base of the newel post cap (see pictures), which is hardly noticeable, easily repairable, and does not detract from the beauty of this piece; otherwise, this splendid newel post is in very good antique condition. It measures 54” tall and 8” wide.
