Description
This is a handsome antique slate mantel, dating from the 1880’s, in its original faux finish. The mantel begins with a beveled shelf resting on two baluster columns, which are square at the top and bottom. The column tops feature a simple carved volute design surrounded by a bold black border. Between the columns, the mantel features a geometric design, formed of substantial black scallops in the center, flanked by a carved geometric design ending on each side in volutes and a black square. The mantel has a chocolate and cream colored faux marble finish. This mantel is in excellent condition. It measures 46” tall, 59 ½” wide, and 14” deep; the firebox opening is 36 ¾” wide and 35 ¼” tall. The mantel disassembles for shipping.
