Description
This is a substantial pair of vintage Gothic Revival sconces. They feature a rectangular back plate with triangular ends, ornamented with a rope detail. The rope-patterned arm extends from the center of the back plate, connecting with a large, angled spike, from which rise leaf-detailed arms that support the lantern. The lantern is composed of five panels with double-arch, hammered honey-colored glass windows, each ornamented at the base with a four-petal floret. Each panel is framed at the sides with imposing rope-like spikes, and is topped with a quatrefoil appliqué. Leafy garlands rise from the corners of the lantern and join in a foliate finial. The wall lamps are in excellent condition. There are no cracks or breaks to the glass. The sconces have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The sconces are 39 1/2” tall, 11” wide, and extend 17” from the wall.
