Description
This is a splendid antique six-light silver plate and crystal chandelier, dating from the 1920’s, in its original silver plate over brass. The chandelier begins with an intricately cast volute loop, followed by an inverted, scalloped bowl hung with crystal spears and smoky black crystal teardrops. Below, the chandelier body features a large glass orb with a bead pattern, finished top and bottom with silver plated bands and reeded glass sections. The six chandelier arms, accented with acanthus appliqués and smooth smoky crystal teardrops, rise from a scalloped bowl hung with gorgeous French pendalogues. Each arm supports a scalloped bobeche with sparkling teardrop prisms. The chandelier finishes in a small dome hung with alternating “icicle” prisms and crystal teardrops, and a smooth crystal ball hangs from the center. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 21 ½” wide and 28” tall, and the overall length of the chandelier is approx. 40 ½”.
