Description
This impressive Neoclassical style lantern style chandelier is magnanimous in size and attractiveness. This superbly cast bronze lantern displays the original, fabulously aged, two-toned finish with gorgeously impressive verdigris. This piece begins with a remarkable canopy, which is bordered with a twisted bronze rod and displays superbly cast leafy appliqués. Attached to 39” of antique chain, this cage frame lantern begins with a loop style finial, which crowns the center rod. Far from simple, the center rod boasts acanthus leaf appliqués and charges towards a canopy-corresponding bottom finial, which is adorned with a twisted bronze rod, beautifully cast leafy appliqués, and finishes with an acorn finial. The body of this lantern is open frame style with two bronze rings surrounded by six curled, bent, and strapped bronze rods creating the cage. Each segment, thus formed by the six rods, houses ornately curled rods between which gleaming palmettes are displayed. Each of the six, luminous, leafy bobeches is resting on complimenting curled bronze rods. This chandelier is so striking and in excellent condition, it has been professionally rewired, and it comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The overall diameter is 14 7/8”; the length of the chandelier only is 36”; the overall length is 78 ½”.
