Description
This is a glorious pair of antique Louis XV gilded bronze triple-arm sconces, dating from the late Nineteenth Century. The sconces feature cast bronze round back plates with a smooth brass border and pebbled center. The base of the brass arm is encircled with superbly cast bronze foliate detail and comes down in a graceful curve, separating into three arms that support intricate Rococo-style foliate wax-pans, which are balanced by the simplicity of the round candle-cups. An airy, curving finial, composed of vine-like foliage, crowns the top of the arm next to the back plate. Following the curve of the arm is a stylized foliate appliqué, which arches up in the center to accept a small foliate finial. The underside of the arm is ornamented with a delicate foliate appliqué. These wall lamps are in excellent condition. They have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The sconces are 16 ½” tall, 9” wide, and extend 13 ½” from the wall.
