Description
This is a splendid pair of antique Georgian double-arm sconces with prisms, dating to the 1920’s and retaining their original vibrant red polychrome finish. The sconces are signed by their maker, Lion Co. Each sconce features an intricately cast back plate crowned with an anthemion, hung with a laurel swag, and ornamented with acanthus leaves. The U-shaped, reeded sconce arms extend from an acanthus cluster at the bottom of the sconce, coming up to meet beautiful cast bobeches adorned with a leaf-and-dart pattern and hung with sparkling icicle prisms. These wall lamps are in excellent condition, and the prisms are also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The sconces have been professionally rewired, and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. They are 15” tall, 10” wide and project 4” from the wall.
