Description
This is a magnificent antique Georgian six-light chandelier, in its original silver plate finish over brass. The chandelier is signed by its maker, the Lion Company. Circa 1910, this silver plated chandelier begins with an elegant volute loop finial, below which a reeded pole runs the length of the chandelier body. Six intricately cast bands, ornamented with volutes and a foliate motif, form the cage-like body of the chandelier. Three beautifully cast flowers with their leaves surround the reeded pole, resting on an acanthus-detailed base. The chandelier arms are formed of semicircular bands supporting sleek candle-cups with intricate foliate wax-pans. The bottom of the chandelier is finished in a splendid foliate finial with a tassel at the bottom. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The width of the chandelier is 19 ½”, the length of the chandelier body only is 22”, and the overall length is 37”.
