This is a wonderful antique pewter five-light chandelier with sleek teardrop prisms and its original, brilliant polychrome finish, dating from the 1920’s. The chandelier begins with a beautifully detailed canopy with a red beaded edge, and comes down to a volute finial with red accents, which rests atop a gadrooned baluster ornamented with red foliate detail. An open, hammered section with volutes flares out above the chandelier body. Below, the drum-shaped chandelier body features a sleek golden top. Encircling the chandelier body is a beautifully detailed design of volutes and acanthus. Four gilded, S-curved arms extend from foliate arm receiver bowls, and each supports a gadrooned bobeche with a beaded edge and smooth teardrop prisms. The underside of the light fixture houses the fifth light, and is encircled with clear prisms. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 22” wide and 21” tall, and the fixture is 38” long overall.
