Description

This is a gorgeous antique Art Nouveau newel post lamp, dating from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. The lamp retains its original amber glass cylinder. The lamp begins with a beautifully cast ribbed pattern encircling its base, coming up to a hexagonal section with a fluted foot coming to each corner. The four-sided lamp body flares out at the top into an egg-and-dart pattern, followed by beautiful polychrome Art Nouveau foliate detail. The amber glass cylinder rests on a disk trimmed in rope detail, and four slender poles, capped at top and bottom with red leaf accents, support the top of the lamp. The magnificent top of the lamp is encircled with a rope pattern, followed by a wavy vine with heart-shaped leaves. The dome at the top is crowned with an acorn finial and draped with leaves. The lamp is in very good antique condition. The glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, just the expected fleabites around the rim. This newel post light measures 22” tall and 5 1/8” wide.
