Description

This is an incredible antique American stained glass door, dating from the late 19th Century. The glass features a striking design composed of two opalescent flowers in a granite glass vase, flanked with elegant volutes and crowned with a magnificent fleur-de-lis formed of ripple glass, on a background of unusual ribbed glass. The center of each flower is formed by a smooth jewel, which is repeated in a volute design below the vase, and six roundels are placed throughout the design. The design is bordered by pinwale ribbed glass, followed by opalescent glass that repeats the fabulous color of the flowers. Below the glass, the door, which is made of chestnut, features a horizontal panel followed by a pair of vertical panels. The door is in very good antique condition, and the glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The door is 36” wide, 95 5/8” tall and 1 3/4″ thick; the glass is 26 ½” wide and 50 ½” tall.
