Description
This is a fabulous antique five-light iron and brass chandelier, dating from the 1920’s. The chandelier is signed by its maker, the Riddle Company, and retains its original polychrome finish. It begins with a magnificent canopy ornamented with polychrome leaf patterns. The chandelier body is crowned with an intricate cast brass finial, richly ornamented with leaves and clusters of grapes. The finial rests atop a volute-detailed plate, from which extend five hammered iron bands. The bands curve inward, forming the chandelier body, and flare back out to become the chandelier arms. Each arm supports a beautifully cast brass bobeche accented with foliate detail at the top and red acanthus where the arm connects to the bobeche. The bottom of the chandelier is finished with intricate leaf detail and a dangling polychrome loop finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 18” wide and 20” tall; the fixture is 34 ¾” long overall.
