Description
A gorgeous antique mercury glass pendant light, dating from the early 1900’s. This pendant begins with an understated brass canopy and descends in a rod to a simple fitter and silvered “mercury” glass shade below. Mercury glass is a term used to describe glass that is blown with double walls and then silvered in the middle with a coating, typically silver-nitrate, to produce a mirror-like finish. Mercury glass was originally produced from the 1840’s to around the 1930’s. This light is in excellent condition with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. It measures 7-3/4″ wide by 25-1/2″ long overall.
