Description
A beautiful pair of antique exterior Tudor sconces, salvaged from the historic “Windsor” home—also known as the Castle Above the Clouds—perched atop Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. Built in the 1930s by George and Elizabeth Scholze, the residence reflects the couple’s refined taste and attention to detail. George Scholze, second-generation owner of the prominent Scholze Tannery in Chattanooga, helped earn the city its nickname, “Saddle Capital of the World.”
Each wall lamp begins with a beveled, square back plate from which an arm curls outward to support a lantern body. The lantern body is crowned with a tall, pyramidal roof with ridge cap shingle detailing; the body below features divided metal framework which allows its textural, granite glass panes to peek through. The lanterns have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. Each sconce measures 5” wide, 14″ tall, and projects 7-1/2” from the wall.
