An incredible antique fireplace summer cover set, dating from the early 1900s and ornamented with figural details.The central panel features a stag’s head framed by scrolling foliate decoration, creating a dramatic focal point with strong visual depth. The surrounding border is adorned with elaborate floral and botanical motifs, while fluted side columns and decorative capitals lend a sense of structure and classical balance. The lower section is equally detailed, with pierced elements and delicate garland-like ornamentation adding texture and interest. Originally intended to cover a fireplace during the summer months, this piece now serves as both a functional architectural element and a distinctive decorative statement. This summer cover set is in very good antique condition, with some of the corners on the insert slightly bent (as pictured). The outer frame measures 25-1/8″ wide, 30-1/4″ tall, and is 2-1/4″ deep. The insert measures 20-3/4″ wide, 19-1/4″ tall, and is 2″ deep; the base bumper measures 22-1/4″ wide, 7″ tall, and projects 4″.
