Description
An incredible antique figural chandelier, salvaged out of a home in New York. This striking fixture features an ornate central body embellished with scrolling foliate details and figural dragon motifs, with an elaborate arrangement of curling arms extending outward to support the candle cups. The chandelier retains its transitional configuration, incorporating both early electric sockets and traditional candle-style fittings, reflecting the period when electric lighting was becoming increasingly common while still retaining the decorative language of earlier candlelit fixtures. The tall central stem is finished with finely fluted detailing, while the lower body finishes in an ornate finial.
This exceptional chandelier would make a dramatic statement in a traditional, Victorian, Gothic Revival, or eclectic interior. It is in very good antique condition with the expected wear and patina from age, and has been professionally rewired with all necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 17″ wide (square), 23″ wide (diagonally), 21″ tall (body only), and is 37″ long overall.
