Two magnificent antique bronze and mica chandeliers, salvaged out of the Masonic Loews Temple Theatre in Birmingham, AL. With high ceilings and a 3,100-seat auditorium, the exclusive theater featured motion pictures as early as 1923, and was converted into a Vaudeville theater in 1925. Each chandelier, attributed to design by E. F. Caldwell, begins with a decorative canopy that comes down in a chain to a loop finial and ornate platform. Below, the chandelier body features beautiful mica glowing from behind bronze cutouts, surrounded by a perimeter of downward facing exposed bulb lights. An oversized hanging tassel finial below finishes the chandelier. The light fixtures are in excellent condition; they have each been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. Each chandelier body measures 27-3/4” wide (not including light bulbs), 43“tall, and the fixture is 69“ long overall.
